Why a Good Menu Film Can Lift Your Restaurant's Foot Traffic by 30%
Kaily · May 1, 2026
After three years shooting F&B in Kuala Lumpur, I keep seeing the same painful truth.
Many cafe owners pour hundreds of thousands into renovation, hire a chef, and design a beautiful menu — only to lose their customer to a competitor's 15-second Reel.
It is rarely because the other shop's food is better.
It is because their imagery made the customer hungry first.

【1. Why does a single video pull people through a door?】
This isn't mystical. It's behavioural.
A good menu film does three things:
1. It makes food *move* — steam, cheese pulls, sizzle, pour shots — all of which fire the brain's reward circuits.
2. It makes the space *breathe* — warm wood, soft light, slow pans tell the viewer, "you can sit down here."
3. It makes the brand *speak* — in 3 seconds, the audience already knows who you are and who you cook for.
According to Meta's 2024 local F&B report, in KL/PJ, F&B posts with short video reach 2.6× more accounts than static photos, and Reels drive 18%–34% in-store conversion on average.
【2. What separates a "valuable" menu film from a flashy one?】
It isn't transitions. It isn't viral audio.
A film that actually brings customers in only needs to do these:
- Food close-ups make up ≥ 60% of the runtime (not the renovation).
- The cut rhythm matches the *bite*, not the music drop.
- One coherent warm color story (not Instagram's default cool blue).
- A clear destination at the end — name, address, hours.
【3. How long does one shoot last?】
This is the question every owner *should* ask.
Every master video I deliver also produces:
- 1 × 30-second hero film (website / Google / Facebook)
- 3–5 × 9:16 short cuts (Reels / TikTok / Xiaohongshu)
- 15–20 still frames (menu, GrabFood, printed posters)
In other words, one day on set fuels 3–6 months of content. The cost-per-asset usually drops below RM 50.
【4. When should you book a visual team?】
- 2–3 weeks before opening (for launch comms)
- New seasonal menu launches
- Before pushing FoodPanda / GrabFood / TikTok local ads
- When customers keep asking "where's your Instagram?"

- 1 支 30s 主片(官网/Google/Facebook)
