Yi Banh Mi Vietnamese Baguette is a food-focused visual project created in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The work was designed to highlight the texture, freshness and hand-built character of Vietnamese bánh mì through close-up food cinematography and still photography. Rather than showing the sandwich only as a finished product, the visual story focuses on the details that create appetite — crisp bread, layered ingredients, roasted meat, fresh herbs, cucumber and flowing sauce. The final content was developed for short-form social media, using strong texture, movement and warm commercial lighting to make the product feel immediate, fresh and crave-worthy.

Concept
Built around crunch, layers and craving.
Brand objective
A Vietnamese bánh mì story told through texture and movement.
Creative direction
The visual direction focused on tight macro framing, directional lighting and ingredient layering. Crisp baguette texture, fresh cucumber, coriander, roasted meat and sauce movement were used as the key appetite cues. Dark negative space and warm highlights helped isolate the food and create a stronger commercial feel while keeping the ingredients natural and recognisable.
Client challenge
The challenge was to make a familiar everyday food product feel premium and visually memorable without over-styling it or losing the authentic character of Vietnamese bánh mì. The content also needed to work effectively in a short vertical format for social media.
My role & key decisions
Creative Direction · Food Styling · Videography · Food Photography · Lighting · Editing · Colour Treatment I built the visual sequence around texture and assembly rather than a conventional static product presentation. Key decisions included using close-up framing to emphasize crispness and moisture, capturing hand interaction to add tactility, and using sauce movement as the main hero moment.
Distribution & verified results
Published as social media food content for Yi Banh Mi and used as a visual portfolio example for commercial F&B storytelling. The project demonstrates a product-led approach suitable for restaurant, food brand and menu marketing content.
